I interviewed the athletic trainer from somers highschool, Kade Redman Kade has been an athletic trainer for thirteen years, he had a lot of advice an information to share with me, what really stuck out to me in the interview was his favorite part about being a trainer. He said “the best part is the interaction i get to have with the kids, not only as a trainer but a substitute teacher too, the kids put a lot of trust in me as their trainer, me and the kids have a different bond rather than student and teacher, even in school they talk to me as the trainer and not just as a sub. Thats my favorite part.” when i heard that sentence come out of his mouth i couldnt believe it because his words is exactly what my personal mission statement describes. As an athletic trainer that is what i want to strive for. He told me college wasnt easy but if you are determined you will make it, he also told me the government changed the 4 year requirement to become a trainer has now changed to five years. His favorite memory from being in somer was the state championship with mrs. Zamorski, he also said a second close to his favorite memory is practicing with the softball girls at somers highschool. Kade was a three sport athlete himself and hurt himself when he was highschool, there was no trainer so he was sent to the hospital immedietly, he became a trainer because of that, he wanted to be there for the athletes when they get hurt so they have the urgent care that they need. I learned a lot from kade but these were my big takeaways from the interview.
